Most people we've talked to about the "Idle No More" movement, hadn't even heard that it was happening because it hasn't really been covered by our major news networks.

A GLOBAL Event, people all over the world have been participating in for almost a month, don't you wonder, "Why this has NOT been all over the News?"

We Are All Children of Earth. "IDLE NO MORE"
Searched for information online about "IDLE NO MORE," the media articles I read which came from NON-native websites were filled with disinformation and finger pointing similar to that of the Democrat and Republican Parties mud-slinging before major elections.
It had a feeling of: "look how bad they are, just don't listen to what they are saying."
These news articles were listing information about tribal money and education. These have nothing to do with the IDLE NO MORE Movement.
I'm sure many are wondering: "Who should I believe...
the Major News Networks OR the Indians?"
It had a feeling of: "look how bad they are, just don't listen to what they are saying."

I don't receive checks from the Tribes, benefit from any mining operations and I don't live on a reservation.
Perhaps people can more easily believe this truth when hearing it from someone like me? This is NOT about the "Indians" or "Natives" wanting more money, power or control.
This is about big government making decisions which affect these people and all the rest of us too.
The IDLE NO MORE Movement is about protecting natural resources and keeping our water clean and safe for all life. This is about preserving a Healthy Land which will be able to Support Life for future generations... so that our future Grandchildren may grow healthy food and have safe drinking water.

This is about an elected government who refused to consider or listen to what it's gathered citizens were saying. They ignored them until there were too many supporters world-wide to continue ignoring it. They recently agreed to meet with Chief Theresa Spence on January 11th, but they haven't really changed anything yet.
The public and the world deserve to know what's really going on here.
One of their complaints is that the Canadian government was changing laws, which make it easier for Indigenous Canadians to sell their tribal reservation land to non-native people.
This has happened before, with other reservations. When hard-times hit, they go in and offer to buy the land so they can afford to survive a little bit longer.

The Indigenous People want to preserve their reservations as a place for their descendants to live the "Old Ways" if they choose to in the future.
If they are allowed to easily sell it, then future generations may not have this opportunity. The Indian Reservations are very small in comparison to the vastness of North America which were the former borders of their "Indian Reservation." Should they really have to protest to force the governments to honor their treaties, so they may keep this small portion of land to live as tribal people?
The Tribal Leaders are asking that the Canadian Government not make it easy for the young people to sell their reservation land, to preserve having a place for future generations to live together as a "tribal community."
The Indigenous People of Canada are gathering with other Indigenous People of North America and all over the world. Non-Native Support is coming in from countries all over the world. The people of this Planet are coming together to support the IDLE NO MORE Movement.

You may have seen that they were standing in the road, blocking traffic or been present when they showed up at your local shopping mall; they played drums, sang and danced in a circle for
15-minutes and left just as quickly as they appeared.
This what they call a Flash Mob Round Dance.
It makes their presence known, they are seen and they are heard in a peaceful way.

How else will people know what is happening to the Native People?

They are asking for your help and your support.

These gatherings show the governments that they are not going to "take this quietly" anymore. They aren't staying on their reservations where the rest of the world would never even know about it. That's how more than 12-million of them were killed before, they learned from past mistakes and they hope the rest of us have learned too.
It also shows the governments just how much support the Indigenous people have and it gets their attention because many of their supporters don't appear to be "Natives." It's true that many supporters are non-native people, but many of them are actually mixed-blood people, who are no longer easy to identify visually or socially as "Indians."

Let this be a reminder to the Governments also...
The Blood-Quantum laws in the U.S. and Canada which ensured that eventually there would be no "Indians" left to inherit the reservation land are the very same laws which stopped the registration of mixed-blood Native Descendants.
Nobody knows "how many of us" there are, we live and look just like everyone else.
You already know and love us... we are your many friends, co-workers, spouses and neighbors. When your loved-ones stand with "Idle No More," will you stand with them?

They remember hearing the stories from their Grandparents and feeling lucky just to be alive because their Grandparent survived the Mission Schools.
They remember being angry with "white people" for what happened to their Native Grandparents and they remember how long they felt guilty whenever the "white face" looked back at them from the mirror.
Even if the mixed-blood Native Descendants are no longer recognized or accepted as "Indians," they still remember "WHO THEY ARE."

Mixed-blood Native Descendants are NOT really ashamed of the Native Blood which still runs through their veins. As you can see, at these events, when push comes to shove... they rise up, rejoin "The People" and they answer the call to "IDLE NO MORE."

If the governments truly want to know "How Many" Mixed-Blood Native Descendants are living in North America, they could just do an online poll, instead of "waking the sleeping giant" by pushing the people into a revolution which won't stop moving once it begins.
