Fargo Marathon INSPIRED by Native Drums by: Jennifer Kruse, LMT CRMT
Did MORE than INSPIRE the Marathon Runners this year!
Everyone's still buzzing about the Fargo Marathon last weekend.
While working with Marathon Runners & Watchers this week...
I've heard more about the Native Drums than anything else!
They seem CURIOUS about Native Drums since hearing them at the Marathon.
They shared their experiences with me, how it made them FEEL INSIDE to hear the drums.
Many of them seem somewhat SURPRISED by their Drum Experience. Some shared that when they heard the drum, they felt it had "stirred something within them." They were curious about this, so they asked me many questions. As a result, I had MANY wonderful conversations! :)
Some had assumed I'd be with the Native Drummers and thought maybe they had paid more attention, as they looked for me there.
All who mentioned the Native Drums felt more than inspired, but seemed to have difficulty putting "how they felt" into words.
I had the PERFECT THING to share with them!
Last month, I heard Michael Dahl give an amazing description of the Ojibwe word meaning drum at a Native American Conference held on the White Earth Indian Reservation.
Ojibwe word for Drum: "dewe'igan"
de = my heart, we = echo, igan = forever
To Hear this word pronounced in Ojibwe, visit the Ojibwe People's Dictionary by CLICKING HERE.
I shared this description of the word for drum, dewe'igan (my heart echoes forever)...
They seemed speechless for a moment.
They visibly appeared moved inside...
as if that was EXACTLY how hearing the Drum
made them FEEL INSIDE. :)
Ojibwe Elders say that the much louder drum beats the drum groups include now are something new.
They never used to hit the drum that hard before. The drums were never this loud before.
"The drum represents our Earth Mother." ~ Larry Stillday, Sr., Red Lake Elder & Spiritual Leader
Hearing the drum, you HEAR and FEEL the Earth Mother's sound.
She's getting louder...
is it a coincidence that people are feeling a "stirring within?"
I heard there were 3-4 Drum Groups who were at the Fargo Marathon last weekend.
Knowing this area, the drummers were likely from many different nations. All Very AMAZING Drums! :)
Anyone who's interested in HEARING DRUMS themselves... this is an IN-PERSON Experience.
There's a Big Pow Wow this weekend: May 25, 26 & 27
There will be Awesome Drums there! :)
