Human Brain thinks at a rate of 400-Billion Bytes per second. Average Humans are Consciously Aware of only 2-Thousand Bytes per second.
There are many examples of people NOT seeing something until someone else prompted them to look for it. Many Native Americans couldn't see the visiting ships parked just off shore because they had never seen anything like that before.
A medicine man noticed the waves were moving differently, so he kept looking, trying to figure it out. When he saw the ships, he told the others and they looked and looked until they finally saw the ships too!
The Fire-Fly Experiment
I realized she hadn't noticed them, but how?
The tree was blinking like an over-decorated Christmas tree!
I asked her when was the last time she had seen fire-flies.
She reported that she hadn't seen them in many years, in fact, she believed there were no fire-flies in Minnesota.
Interesting!
Directing her to look at my tree, saying that I was really sure I saw a fire-fly in there.
She looked and looked at the tree as if she was straining herself to find it ....
she looked for awhile, then she suddenly saw it!
Her reaction was so cute, like a little kid seeing a magical fire-fly for the first time.
She saw ONE fire-fly.
She looked and looked again, until she saw more fire-flies.
This was an awesome experiment, which produced the same results with several people. This proved to me that people don't always see all that is there to see.
I wondered...
If my friends weren't seeing the fire-flies, what else weren't they seeing?
What if I wasn't seeing everything either?
What more might be there to see?
An exciting thought to consider!
I considered the numbers again:
2-Thousand bytes out of 400-Billion.
With the brain working that fast...
The only conclusion was without a doubt, there must be more to see, hear, feel and experience with our own conscious awareness.
Seeing is Believing
Most would agree if they could see proof with their own eyes, right?
Want to Try?
Look Deeply with Child-like Eyes!
Look at the world as if you don't already know what is there to see.
Do you remember how magical and wonderous you felt as a child seeing fire-flies
for the very first time?
Look at the world with those adventurous, fearless and innocent eyes!
Keep looking. Take the time to really look. You may even consider taking a picture you can look at repeatedly until you develop this skill.
Expect to see something more...
There is MORE to see!
How Do Adults Usually See?
I noticed that most adults look so quickly at everything and don't always pause very long to really look at something. Even while on vacation, many go through beautiful areas so quickly. I've wondered if they could possibly have seen all the beauty that I had seen?
Slow Down
When you look at an area, know that what you are seeing is only the first 2000 Bytes of what is there to see!
2000 bytes of Conscious Awareness out of 400-Billion bytes, remember?
Take a deep breath, smile and look more deeply....
Expect to See More and keep looking until you do!
Be Curious and Take Time to Wonder...
Did you see everything there was to see?
OR
Did you look so quickly that you missed seeing all that was there?
as you expand your own conscious awareness!
